Kanuri music has for centuries contained and conveyed a
deep desire for love that keeps sharing. The dance steps are very interesting
especially when our adorable women and men collective put the color of love on
display. While on stage or any venue of performance, Kanuri ladies maintain an
appealing smile and so also the men. We are never in a hurry while dancing
because we take majestic steps that signify royalty.
The adorable beauty is identified with different
colours of dresses like ‘Gida wanga show’ and ‘Fuskar Kura’ among others which
consistently evolve because the culture of contemporary dance is not for any
particular tribe rather it cuts across all tribes, Bonsuwe (for Babur/Bura),
Koroso (from Kano), Tangarno (Fulani dance) and so many other types of dance
patterns.
When a collection of troupe do the very technical Shuwa
dance steps with their eloquent play of good music, the Shuwa musical
instruments just take over the entire atmosphere and it changes everything
completely. You could always literally feel the energy of peace all over the
place.
Our dancers are always happy because they are good at
what they do. The fulfillment that comes with perfecting these cultural
realities can be described only by experiencing live performances. One
interesting part is that even when the people are not prepared, they still get
to present the best because it comes naturally to them.
